Who doesn’t love a good study Bible? I don’t know about you, but when I find a tool or resource that breaths new insight into God’s Word under the direction of the Holy Spirit, I get so excited. Today, I am honored to review for you the new CSB Life Essentials Study Bible. Plus, at the end of this post, we are doing a giveaway for this amazing new resource.

MEET DR. GENE GETZ

Dr. Gene Getz is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Rocky Mountain College. He has earned advanced degrees from Wheaton Graduate School and New York University. He served as a professor at Moody and Dallas Theological Seminary and then became a church planting pastor, launching the Fellowship Bible Church movement. HOW CAN YOU USE THIS BIBLE?

I am so glad you asked! This is an excellent Bible to use with your spouse, family, small group, women’s group, or youth group. Every night, Steven and I try to read the Word together. A few nights ago, we took a passage from Scripture and studied it out with the Life Essentials Interactive Study Bible. It was wonderful to be able to read the passage and the study notes on that passage. We watched Dr. Getz break down the Scripture through the videos presented throughout and then, answered the reflection questions together. That was my favorite part. The guided Reflection and Response questions allowed me to hear Steven’s heart for the Word and for Scripture in a fresh light.

I can see using this Bible as a couple’s devotion. I can see using it with your family. It is a great way to teach your children how to read and interpret God’s Word. It would be great in a small group or if you host a women’s meeting or even a youth group.

Of course, it is a wonderful companion to your study time with the Lord and the reflection questions would be great to journal in a notebook.

MY THOUGHTS

I think the CSB Life Essentials Interactive Study Bible is a fantastic resource. What I love most about the Bible is how interactive it truly is. The videos, the reflection questions, and the life principles included are wonderful.

I love how clear and concise the instructions are for using this Bible. As you can see in this sample page from the Book of Nehemiah, everything is explained and the teaching in the beginning helps to clearly understand how to get the most from this Bible.

There is also a personal video from Dr. Gene Getz as well as a full article giving specific suggestions for using the Life Essentials Study Bible. Including how to do a book study, topical study, family devotion, small group study, mentoring, formal classes, and even materials you can use in a sermon.

There is a fantastic concordance in the back that helps you to find most used words throughout Scripture and the Principle Finder is wonderful as it provides a topical index.

The pages are thin. So if you are looking to highlight or make notes, be sure to use a gel highlighter as the pages will bleed through. There is A LOT and I mean A LOT of content in this Bible. Take it slow and just focus on one thing at a time. If you want to study out a principle before going to the video teachings, that is fine. If you want to skip straight to all the video teachings, that is fine too. Just don’t get overwhelmed at all of the helpful tools. But . . . that’s not a bad thing, right? 💛
