Inscribe the Word . . . March Scripture Writing Plan.

The book of Galatians is a book of Freedom. In this epistle, Paul teaches the reality of our freedom from the law and the freedom we have to live in Christ. What a powerful feeling and a powerful concept.

We, as Christians, are FREE in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

The book of Galatians is a powerful book that reminds us that we do not live under the law of sin and bondage, but under the freedom of Jesus Christ. Join us for our March Scripture Writing Plan as we Inscribe THE BOOK OF GALATIANS.

This year, 2018, we are studying the epistles of the New Testament. So far, we have inscribed 1 John, 2 and 3 John, Titus, and Philemon. Now, we move to the mighty book of Galatians.

It is so important that we see the Bible as a whole. So often we pick out Scriptures and apply them to our lives without understanding the context of the verse. While word studies are important, reading or writing an entire book of the Bible gives you a fuller more complete view of the passage as a whole. I am excited to join together to inscribe and understand the book of Galatians this March.

Let's take a look at the blueprint and background for the book of Galatians.

Author: Galatians was written by the apostle Paul.

When and Where: It was written about A.D. 50 from Antioch.

Written To: Galatians gets its title from a region in Asia Minor were numerous churches were located. These churches in Galatia included those founded in Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe. (Acts 13:14-14:23) They were founded on Paul's first missionary journey. This letter is the only letter of Paul's addressed to churches in more than one city. And of course, it was written for Christians everywhere.

Why: Paul wrote Galatians to refute the Judaizing false teachers who were teaching that Gentiles had to obey Jewish law in order to be saved. If they did not adhere to the Mosaic law, as well as believing in Christ, they could not become Christians. Paul wrote Galatians to bring the churches back to the purity of the Gospel and to remind them that they were free from the law in Jesus Christ.

The central theme of this epistle is justification by faith.

The Blueprint for Galatians:
1. The authenticity of the Gospel. (Galatians 1:1-2:21)
2. The superiority of the Gospel. (Galatians 3:1-4:31)
3. The Freedom of the Gospel. (Galatians 5:1-6:18)

I pray that as we continue with the Epistles, you see the freedom that we have been given in Christ Jesus. When I look back to Numbers and Leviticus and see ALL of the laws of the Old Testament, I just thank the Lord. Jesus fulfilled the law, and because of Him, we now live in freedom from that law. What a joy!

A Note To Parents: Galatians is a difficult book for little ones to understand on their own. If you are inscribing the word with your children, I encourage you to read your passage of Scripture to them so that they get a complete picture of the epistle. While I tried to pull out verses that they would understand, as parents, it is imperative to do the study together. It will give your children a greater understanding of this powerful epistle if you are studying with them.
